How to...  Creating a Survey from Scratch

Creating a Survey from Scratch

Start by introducing your survey

An introductory paragraph is always a good idea to welcome people to a survey, explain the purpose of the survey, and how long it will take. If you are offering an incentive, you can introduce it here, and include an image of the prize if there is one.

1.     On page one of your survey, click Add new Question.

Add Question button

2.     Choose Heading from the first box of question types.

3.     Type in your heading text (e.g. Welcome). Click Save.

4.     You will now be back at the Edit Survey screen and your heading will be at the top of the page.

5.     To add a welcome paragraph, click on Add Question again, and this time choose Message from the first box.

6.     Type in a paragraph welcoming people to the survey, explaining the purpose of the survey, and how long it is likely to take. It is also good to mention security of the survey and incentives for taking the survey, if relevant to your situation.

7.     Click on Save, and you will be returned to the Edit Survey screen, where you will be able to see your message underneath the heading.

You can now start adding questions to your survey.
